Historic Norfolk, VA

Norfolk Virginia has a storied past aligned with the initial English settlers, visiting mariners, trains and an East Coast optimism for trade, beginning it’s more recent 19th-century history as the economic hub of the Mid-Atlantic Coast. In the 40’s & 50’s, Norfolk’s booming economy waned, but new highways, bridges & tunnels connecting Hampton and the East Shores peninsula to Norfolk City and Virginia Beach began a slow rebirth of the area. Buy some of those memories through the photos captured during the early 19th century days of Norfolk, including the 1933 cat 4 hurricane floods, original firehouses, Norva theater, and Granby Street celebrations!
